StarCarCentral.com lines up famous movie and tv cars for downs syndrome event for DSALA

Each year the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles puts on a Buddy Walk and Festival, and Nate Truman’s StarCarCentral.com line up was there to support the cause!  Only one thing was missing, me! AKA NATE!  Luckily,  the SSC is not about one person, it’s about a team of great star car owners who will come out with their cool famous movie and tv cars to support charities around Los Angeles!

KITT from Knight Rider,  Magnum P.I. Ferrari, Back to the Future Delorean, Ratchet  right next to Bumblebee from the Transformers, and Herbie all showed up to support all the folks at DSALA!

SCC members Alex, Oscar, Paul, Jason, Jon and Brian all arrived early and lined up somehow with out their fearless leader!?!?  How is that possible?  Oh right, they are all veterans of many similar events we have done over the last seven years!

Of course, this was the first time a mini Thunderbird Jet showed up, and gave rides!   I think all the guys wanted a turn!  I bet  a jet plane would give the horses at Santa Anita a run for their money!

But wait, I know what you are thinking, if Nate Truman’s not there, then there was no Batmobile!  HA!

Even though he won an Academy Award my secret weapon comes out a few times a year, with HIS batmobile!  Tom Woodruff came later but the boys saved a place for him right in front!

After the walk and festival ended, a once in a lifetime photo op happened!  All the guys went out to a local Sonic and managed to get every stall on the same side, for one of the coolest starcar photos in a long time!  That’s what I get for missing an event!

Now we have to turn that into a poster!  Too cool!   Next up, the next day, AUTISM Walk at Anaheim stadium!  Still no NATE!

Ability First Star Car Central red carpet event!

It happened on Friday May 1st, but here’s the post now! AbilityFirst provides programs and services to help children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities reach their full potential throughout their lives. They offer a broad range of employment, recreational and socialization programs.

Last year was Star car Central’s first time participating in the Red Carpet Oscar like event, and it was such fun we brought a different group back for the second year!

Mark G and his Adam-12 cruiser showed up, and then got a call to fix a helicopter, so he got himself moved up in the line up, and delivered Jim Carrey (does he seem a bit too tall?) to the red carpet area where Joan Rivers was greeting all the ariving stars.

Mark G's Adam 12 meets Jim Carrey look alike! Mark ran the red carpet, then ran to keep the police in the air! Always on call, his job is to keep them flying!

“One Adam-12  see the woman dressed like Joan Rivers, use caution, she is armed with a sharp wit. that is all.”

(In a side note, I am trying to locate an “ACE VENTURA” car for the Jim Carrey Impersonator… we shall see…)

of the event!

Just so no one is confused, that is TOM driving HIS batmobile, no I didn’t let someone else drive my bat. So don’t ask. 🙂 Don’t ask Tom either.

Sue brought her Get Smart Sunbeam with working machine gun in the hood, along with a great Get Smart Look-A-Like

and were teamed up with a  “I Love Lucy” impersonator.  Maxwell Smart entertained the crowd with his Shoe Phone!

We met a new friend at the event, a GREAT Austin Power’s impersonator, who connected us with

a SHAGUAR!  Look for the british flag on a jag at future events!  (Now find KITT from Knight rider,

the batmobile, and get smart and shrek in that photo!

 So why all this fuss, and driving in the rain through traffic on a Friday night?

NATE AT THE OSCARS!

Well lots of Cars, lots of Stars, but no STAR CARS, still it’s the OSCARS and I figured it was worth a post!

I worked with the crew from the United Kingdom for SKY1 coverage of the event, great group of folks!

It was great seeing a lot of my old pals in the freelance TV world again, after spending 25 years in Television production on over 100 shows and events I was bumping into old friends and distant memories of shows I have worked on all day!      I was suprised to find that I remembered my way around so well, since the last show I did there was season one of American Idol!    The red carpet was damp, and there was one cool vehicle there, the bomb squad van! 

 

Sure Clooney was there, and all the rest, but this year the only nominated movie I have seen was “Ratatouie” on DVD!   Security was tight but well done.  Walking the red carpet was fun, posing with Oscar, and good friends as well as “gettin paiyed” made for a fun time!
