Obishawn – will be bringing not one but 2 Star Wars cars to the event!
Ari – is bringing his ever popular Jurassic Park Jeep!
Lee – Will be rolling in his pristine General Lee Charger!
Jennifer – is also attending in her Super Persuit Mode KITT!
Special Guest star? Rumour has it that NATE TRUMAN may actually appear south of Los Angeles in his Shaguar, but Adam West is doing an Autograph signing in Temecula at the same time… stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
I am getting lots of request to give out a “heads up” on when we will be appearing at events!
So here’s a short list just for this month, of a few that are open to the general public. Come by and say “HEY” to the SCC members! See you there!

I have to admit I am a sucker for fan stuff like this! Being able to stand in the very place where movies or shows that I loved actually shot is just a fun “touchstone” to bring me closer to the action that I remember seeing on the big and little screen! Below is super Rockford fan Jim Suva’s write up on his trip to Rockford Files locations! The Herbie owners are planning a three day event to do pretty much the same thing for their Sothern California locations next month, so any group of fans can pull this sort of thing off, and if you do, well tell me about it with great info and photos like Jim does! Enjoy! Nate Truman
Rockford Files Locations
Written by Jim Suva
In July 2011, Pat McKinney and I went to find the locations that were used on The Rockford Files. Below are some of the locations we found.
Here is the original location of Jim Rockford’s trailer in the parking lot by the Malibu Pier on Pacific Coast Highway.
The first two pictures are from the show. Last two are 2011.
First picture below is Lankershim Blvd. in 2011. A number of scenes of Jim driving down this street have been used. The second picture is St Charles Boromeo. The inside of the church was used while filming “Find Me If You Can”. The church is located on the corner of Moorpark and Lankershim Blvd.
“The Real Easy Red Dog” First picture is from the episode. It shows the Services entrance to Ruehmanm Pontiac in 1975. The next picture is of the dealership today. It now sells BMW’s. The third picture is the house where Stefanie Powers character lived in 1975 and the fourth is 2011.
Jim entering the house and the side view of 4265 Denny Ave. North Hollywood.
“The Trees, the Bees, and T.T. Flowers” The church is located on the corner of Cahuenga and Whipple in Toluca Lake. The first two picture are from 1976. The third picture was taken 2011.
“Beamers Last Case” This is Tony’s Body Shop located at 4730 Blix Street in North Hollywood. First picture is from 1977 and the next two are 2011.
Here is Jack Kelly’s characters home at 4365 Forman, Toluca Lake. First picture is the gate to the property in 1977. The next picture is the gate 2011. Third picture is the driveway 1977. Fourth is the driveway 2011.
“Hotel of Fear” Here is the Mob Bosses Nova’s house located at 4256 Navajo, Toluca Lake. First two pictures are from 1977 and the last two are 2011.
“Rosendahl and Gilda Stern are Dead” The intersection is at Cahuenaga and Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake. This is where Abe Vigoda and Robert Loggia’s characters met. The first two pictures are from 1978 and the last two are from 2011.
This is Rocky’s House located at 3654 Lankershim Blvd., Studio City. The house has had an addition built on the front of house. It now has a row of trees in front.
This is Bob Morse’s Beach Cafe, Paradise Cove. It use to be called the Sandcastle. It has changed quite a bit over the last few years. Jim Rockford’s trailer use to be parked in the parking lot. That part of the parking lot is now a sandy beach with tables. Below are pictures of Paradise Cove, July 13, 2011.
I hope you enjoyed these pictures. It is always nice to see what the locations look like today.
Starcar fans are all around the world, and starcarcentral.com is trying to keep up with all of our members and chapters so you can find the famous movie and TV car events near you!
One of the most active groups outside of Nate Truman’s Hollywood division is run by Dee up in the upper left corner of the USA! He has even started a “starcar Concourse”. After searching for star cars all over the U.S. Dee and Nate found several owners and they all started hanging out together up north! So heres the info on their upcoming event!
Its time for the big 5th Annual ‘Star Car Concourse Classic” show at the Americas Car Museum.
The show is always the last Saturday in August, this year the 27th, and is held at the LeMay Museum’s Marymount location in the Tacoma/Spanaway area. This will be a ‘sanctioned’ AMCA event, hosted by the International Movie & TV Vehicle Owners Association and madmaxcars.com. The larger event, the LeMay/Americas Car Museum’s “Openhouse” that we are featured at, is a VERY COOL annual event even if it were not for the moviecars contribution, so it is well worth the trip. You can find the basic details on our events page here: http://www.madmaxcars.com/events.shtml
Then out in the middle of the USA Michael Knight has a great group that is now doing Comic cons and features one of the two original Monkeemobiles! Here’s a few shots of them sharing the star cars with fans of all shapes and sizes at a recent con!
"Robin, you seem.... Different?"
Original Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson showed up to see and sign the Ghostbuster tribute car (Hey, before you point out it’s not the right body style, not everyone can find a 1959 Mercury Meteor Ambulance, ok? )
Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson and SCC chapter leader Mike Knight!
Everyone had a great time chatting up Ernie about his time as a ghostbuster, and he even signed their car!
"To StarCarCentral.com, thanks for the cool car... what? I don't get to keep it?"
Like I mentioned before, They also have one of the two Monkeemobiles from the old TV series, and it showed up at a live Monkee show!
Well what did you expect them to be rolling in?
Meanwhile, over in Europe, France specifically, Claude has been hosting a great star car get together each year, and it keeps getting bigger each time!
And an article in the french mag “La Vie de l’Auto” The N°1 for the collectors in France! 🙂
Thanks to guys like Michael, Dee, and Claude – fan boys and girls around the US and the world have opportunities to see and get up close to their favorite movie and TV cars!
Where ever there are two or more starcars gathered in the SCC name, you are sure to have a party with some fun loving people! So to all those who are lovers of cool creations for the screen,
thanks for being part of the star car movement in your neck of the woods! TO THE BATMOBILE! Transformers, ROLL OUT! If you see a star car, or better yet, a bunch of them together,
Make sure you say “HI” and tell them you saw them here first!
Thanks to Charger Steve, Star Car Central Los Angeles and San Diego Chapters have been part of the attraction at Monster Jam shows for the last four years. Most shows we drive a parade lap inside the stadiums for the fans as part of the pre-show. This year we appeared at three Monster Jam shows in San Diego, Anaheim Stadium and a first time ever at Dodger stadium with different members of the famous television and motion picture car group at each event.
Back in black! Bandit, KITT and the A-team van! I Pity the fool who don't like black star cars!
In the shadow of the famous Dodger Stadium we eventually lined up our cars, hoping the rain would pass over us and we could drive the infield of Dodger stadium!
Our first stop of the day was to gather in the nearby police academy parking lot, not just because it was close and a big open area to gather but also because it was a movie and TV location used many times. Most notably in the opening sequence of “Charlie’s Angels”
So in another instance of “Cross geeking” (tm nate truman 2003) Here’s a shot of Paul’s Back to the Future delorean under the Academy arch!
"1976 pilot shoot of Charlie's Angels! Where's Farrah?"
So we all parked in the historic lot until everyone arrived!
Then we all drove around the stadium, stopping to admire a few closed gates and lined up for the driver’s area display.
'NEW JURASSIC PARK EXPLORER! LOU, WATCH OUT! IT'S BIGGER THAN IT APPEARS IN YOUR SIDE MIRRORS!
We also welcomed Scott with his Jurassic park Explorer for the first time! Everyone agreed he was an easy addition to the SCC team! Lou was a trooper and came all the way to the event, and after a call from his wife and a look up at the sky made a wise decision and went home! Little did we know what was in store for us!
Charger Steve led us in and lined us up, then lined us up again, then finally got us where he wanted us!
"Rain? What rain?"
Lou was the first to leave of the 15 cars that made it to the stadium. We lost about three cars in the days leading up to the show, and another three before the main event started! It was going to be 20 cars! Darn Rain!
Magnum P.I. Ferrari and Back to the Future Delorean, with Knight Rider bookends!
Jenn’s SPM Kitt lead the display, Paul’s Delorean, Oscar’s Magnum P.I. 308 GTSi Ferrari followed by Alex’s KITT at the start of the row of movie and TV cars. Before the big show started, Oscar and Alex had headed for cover with their cars due to leaks! Thanks for staying for the fans as long as you did!
Herbie the Love bug, Star wars, and James Bond?
Obishawn and Yoda made a mad dash for cover, but Cliff and Justice in their Nascar Herbie and Brian in his James Bond BMW stayed for the show! (We did have a nice tent city to keep us dry during the worst of it thanks to Mater Mike!)
Next up was the Blues Brothers 2000 police car, and Tony’s perfect Smokey and the Bandit trans am! He even had the T-Tops off for a while! Tony’s bandit is spot on, even down to the Coors boxes!
This was the first SCC event for Scott and his dad Norm with their Jurassic park Explorer. We have to get Ari and his Jurassic park jeep together at a future event!
What's that Orange car next to the A-Team van? It should have a sign.
Down at the far end of the display was Jon’s Bumblebee, some orange car Steve brought ( he’s working on a sign so people know what show it’s from. It was a spin off from Smokey and the bandit I think…) and the A-Team van!
Charger Steve's General Lee, and Mr. T's A-team van! (Mr. Truman, that is!)
Due to the rain, most of the owners and drivers of the Star CarCentral.com cars stayed under cover and enjoyed great food and stories in a near by tent city, but the crowds still flocked to the cars to see their favorite movie and TV cars!
Not even pouring rain could keep the fans away from the famous cars!
Towmater and the A-Team, and some contructobot transformers at Starcarcentral.com HQ!
Bringing up the other end of the display was Mike’s Towmater tribute tow truck and Nate’s A-Team van! Those darn constructobots always are photobombing . They act more like decepticons than Autobots!
Even though the rain thinned the group throughout the day, hats off to all who came! Otherwise we would never have this cool shot of the rain storm with starcars at dodger stadium!
Next up, KITT turboboosts into the Knight Rider repair truck, and Back to the Future has a run in on the freeway on the way home….
We're on a mission from God! Crossgeeking overkill!
When it comes to famous movie and TV car get togethers, we never know what to expect! At our last showing of 20 cars John Schneider, star of “Dukes of Hazzard” and “Smallville” stopped by and at the same time, Claudia Wells star of “Back to the Future” and who also appeared on “The Love Bug” TV series also stopped by, and the cameras all came out for some fun “crossgeeking” (tm Nate Truman)
Crossgeeking is when two geeky hobbies or pursuits collide, like the star of “Dukes of Hazzard” posing with the Blues Brothers! Not to be confused with geekswapping, where fans exchange non matching fan paraphernalia. Such as “I’ll give you a Batmobile for that Boba Fett doll”
That doesn't look like Mr. T or Howling Mad Murdock!
The A-team Van is waiting on it’s front Grill guard, but that didn’t stop the fans from wanting to jump in and shout “I pity the fool!” I love it when a VAN comes together!
Smokey and The Bandit trans am, apparently it DOES make me better looking!
The first LA appearance of Tony’s newly restored Smokey and the bandit Trans am. This car is better than brand new, and was a hit with the fans!
Starcars, ASSEMBLE! We circled the team and even in spite of the rain outside, we had a great time swapping stories and photos with the fans and celebrities attending the show.
Claudia Wells and John Schneider had fun posing in all of the cars, once we handed them some props, they were ready to start making sequels!
While the girls from Extreme Green weren’t helping with the fans, they spent their time making our cars look even better!
Luis was smart enough to stay with his Punisher Car. I think Luis stopped breathing!
Well we had 20 cars and lots of crazy moments! So much so that there are too many photos of cars and stars than I can ever put in a blog! Charger Steve’s Scooby Doo van, Alex and his Kitt, Jenn’s SPM KITT the bumblebees (yes, we had two and they met and chatted with the voice actor for Bumblebee!) and Buckaroo’s ratchet transformer medical van, Lou’s great starsky car, Pauls’ BTTF Delorean, Josephs General Lee, Oscar’s Magnum P.I. Ferrari, Brian’s Herbie the Love bug, and the Extreme Green Team and on and on! We didn’t break our own records, but had a great time and most everyone had a great meal afterward! Thanks to Frank and Sons for a great opportunity for a rare indoor show! Special thanks to Jay and Peter and Paul and the whole Extreme Green team that were a big help all day long!
OK, one more photo! Alex brought is printer, he had someone take this photo, then printed it out for Claudia Wells to sign the same day! As the Joker says “Where does he get those wonderful toys?”
Every now and then the Batmobile makes a special appearance, and someone in the crowd walks out of the pages of the comic books and right up to the batsled! When that happens, How can I not let them sit behind the wheel of the most famous crime fighting car in the world?
On Halloween 2010 a fun church in Burbank puts on a themed party every year, and this time it was superheros! With a full on stunt show and short live action play at the top of every hour, Batman and Robin slugged it out with the Deviler! Lots of action and of course the dynamic Duo won the day! Afterwards the would take photos of the little superheros with the batmobile and the caped crusaders!
Gotham City Police Officer Nate Truman, apprehends Harley Quinn!
Somewhere in the night, Dr. Harley Quinsel, aka Harley Quinn, the joker’s crazy but lovable moll strolled out of the crowd! I can’t say no to someone that is THAT big of a batfan, so I told her to wait and I would get her behind the wheel of the batmobile! I think her smile was bigger than the Jokers!
Kassandra Gamez was under all that make up and costuming, and she did a great job of portraying Harley! I hope she goes to a few Comic Cons with that getup, she could win a prize! Just one of the benefits of driving a batmobile around Los Angeles! To the batmobile, and Harley can have a ride when ever she wants! (just to tick of the Joker, of course!)
Each year the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles puts on a Buddy Walk and Festival, and Nate Truman’s StarCarCentral.com line up was there to support the cause! Only one thing was missing, me! AKA NATE! Luckily, the SSC is not about one person, it’s about a team of great star car owners who will come out with their cool famous movie and tv cars to support charities around Los Angeles!
SCC members Alex, Oscar, Paul, Jason, Jon and Brian all arrived early and lined up somehow with out their fearless leader!?!? How is that possible? Oh right, they are all veterans of many similar events we have done over the last seven years!
Of course, this was the first time a mini Thunderbird Jet showed up, and gave rides! I think all the guys wanted a turn! I bet a jet plane would give the horses at Santa Anita a run for their money!
But wait, I know what you are thinking, if Nate Truman’s not there, then there was no Batmobile! HA!
Even though he won an Academy Award my secret weapon comes out a few times a year, with HIS batmobile! Tom Woodruff came later but the boys saved a place for him right in front!
After the walk and festival ended, a once in a lifetime photo op happened! All the guys went out to a local Sonic and managed to get every stall on the same side, for one of the coolest starcar photos in a long time! That’s what I get for missing an event!
Now we have to turn that into a poster! Too cool! Next up, the next day, AUTISM Walk at Anaheim stadium! Still no NATE!
If you want to attend or support DSLA next year, just check out their website at DSLA
One of my “rules” is we help out for charity’s and fire/police events, but usually just once. We have so many requests that every summer weekend is booked sometimes at several places at once! But Officer Lee at the South Pasadena police dept. treats us so nice, we come back to this one show, year after year! The first time was just before I left to go on the very first Fireball Run! This year, it was Paul and Reba who were raring to leave on their Fireball experience, Paul’s second time, and Reba’s first time out as co-driver!
Oscar opened up his office and had more snacks, drinks and a big screen TV, and most importantly, AIR CONDITIONING!
We even got to see Oscar perform with SEAN CASSIDY! WOW! Oscar is the guy at the piano…. a LONG time ago!
As the Star car Cats usually do, we wandered in groups, some stayed with their cars, others wondered off to look at the car show, and as always I circled and tried to connect with everyone at some point in the day! Lots of laughs at Oscar’s office (our new annual hangout!) and lots of good food and drink from the SPPD. Alex even left his car for a while and had a donut with us… next year we will shoot for Jerry to walk away from Herbie, at least to see the car show!
New to this event were Dave and his wife Barb, and Derek Joseph with their General Lee, Mark G. brought a police dept. display car, Jason debuted his Autobot Emergency vehicle, and John showed up with his Bumblebee Camaro too! Jerry’s Herbie as always is perfect, and Alex and His KITT were polished hourly. Paul set up his tent and tirelessly chatted with fans while the rest of us, Sue, Oscar, Jason, Charlie, Ari, Lou looked for shade and just enjoyed the day.
Gary stuck close to his Highway Patrol cruiser and Mark had to make an early exit to attend a wedding, but a few hung around to let the heat of the day pass and watched movies at Oscars place!
We are a “free form” group and everyone seems to like it that way!
Extreme Greene invited the SCC to their Car Show and Movie Night in Covina! Extreme Greene friends, employees enjoyed a screening of “Back to the Future” along with a car show featuring the StarCarCentral.com regulars. The food was good and everyone was friendly and the Xtreme Greene Team was very appreciative to our participation and gave the SCC group some thank you gifts (Waterless car wash spray and cap with Logo) The heat was heavy but we managed to find shelter in the easy ups that they provided. The snoop De Ville is what Snoop Dog uses to arrive at shows. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Paul!
Television and Movie cars batmobile, Delorean, Ghostbusters exto-1, Knight Rider KITT, General Lee, Herbie, the love bug, scooby doo, the A-Team and many more all gather here!
