People, this is a 1970 Chevelle SS not a Camaro. Also the rear of this car thats in the movie is a 1971 Chevelle SS. You think us old timers would not notice.

You are correct on both points! They used several different cars, and yes, the movie people think YOU WONT notice! Just like the General Lee spanned several model years, and the producers figured “close enough!” Thanks!

I would guess that its 71 or 72 chevelles they used, and just put 70s front clips on them because lets face it there seems to be more 71 and 72 chevelles out there than 70s. I’m in love with them all though 70 is my favorite year and i finally got mine after twelve years of the first time I seen a chevelle

Being that I currently own a Black 1968 Chevelle SS 396, and have been a 1968-72 Chevelle Fan all my Life, I noticed the “mis-match” front-to-rear assembly on your “Faster” SS Chevelle right away. It’s really too bad that you allowed this oversight to be left in the Movie since it becomes a bit of a distraction to those of us who know all there is to know about these Classic Muscle Cars.

These are not my cars, they are the screen used cars from the movie, and were at Cinema Vehicles lot. Good eye, you and the other Chevelle fans will see the differences, but most will never know there was even more than one car!

People go to the movie site this is a 1970 chevelle ss with the 1971 back lights the lights were changed because the producers thought it gave the car a more badass look !!

That is what I assumed, a 1970 SS with the rear bumper and lights from a 1971. I had a 1971 for several years til my ex-wife “got it”, if you know what I mean. Was always a 1970 ss lover but the ’71 rear was much more appealing. It is a distraction though, can’t help thinking “that’s a ’70 chevelle in front but…” everytime you see it in the movie. Oh, and the Malibu was the slightly tamed maine line chevelle, the Super Sport was the top line chevells with the true musclecar options for engine displacement, transmissions, 12 bolt instead of 10 bolt rear end options with factory posi-trac, and instrumentation options, etc.

This car is not an SS. Early in the movie you see the speedometer is a base model Malibu.

this is probably a clone ss chevelle, because in the movie, they show the speedometer and it is the wide horizontal speedo while supersports had the round speedo and round tachometer. however, it is possible the car was special ordered with the malibu cluster instead of the standard ss cluster! i dont believe they were swapping 71/72 and 70 chevelles around in the movie,(notice how shiny the one under the car cover was, compared to the semi gloss “sheen” on the one used throughout the rest of the film, and in the photo above) i feel they most likely only had 2 or 3 actual cars to use and each were set up with the same style 70 front and 71/72 rear bumper likely to match the really nice glossy one in the close ups! on a 1970, i like the 70 rear bumper look with the ss pads!!!!

Oh, and the front park lights are amber on an SS. I have a numbers matching 70 SS. but the car is still awesome in the movie. Thank you

A 1970 chevelle has square tail lights, the one in the movie has round which is not correct.

Its a 70 chevelle in the front views (only one to have dual headlights). The rear view with the pod style tail lights are from a 71-72, but they has single headlights. Hate movies that do this!
