Welcome to the 2009 Star Car Association season, movie and TV car fans!
We started 2009 off right at the Anaheim staduim, with monster trucks, new members, rockets firing and doughnuts in the dirt!
All part of the growing group of famous TV and Movie cars that connect through StarCarCentral.com.
We had a new record for Monster Jam and several first timers joined up. We all met up at Hooters, just around the corner from
the arena, and one by one all the cars pulled in. I pulled in with the batmobile around 9:45, and the only ones missing at that point were
Shawn’s new (to us) General Lee Charger, and Alex’s KITT driven by fellow Knight Rider fan Luis and his sister Madeline. Luis didn’t tell her where she was going, but she loved the 80’s, so he said “You will like this, let’s go!” All ready in attendance were the regular gang, and Sue, with her Get Smart Sunbeam with hood Machine gun! Her first SCA event, her brother (CONTROL agent and Sunbeam mechanic) and two junior Monster jam fans along for the fun!
We got off to a slow start waiting for a turn light as we exited the parking lot, and got cut in half, did a few “U” turns, and made it to the pre-staging area to get our “driver in arena” wrist bands, and tickets for the show.
So after a pretty quick check in, we followed the staff guy into the “FAN ZONE” with all of the monster trucks!
From left to right we had:
Pauls’ BTTF delorian, Steve’s Bandit, Sue’s Get Smart Sunbeam,
Jerry’s Herbie, Brian’s Horace the Hate Bug,
Shawn’s General Lee, my Batmobile, Alex’s KITT driven by Luis,
Brandy’s Andy Griffith Patrol car, Obi-Shawns Star Wars H-wing,
Oscar’s Magnum P.I. Ferrari, and our other bookend, J’s Back to the Future Delorian driven by Danny! NOTE: if you are thinking of buying one, Delorian’s are not for people over 6 feet tall!
We all set up (and chased across the parking lot, set up again due to the high winds!) any displays we had, I took special interest in the machine gun on Sue’s Get Smart car,
Before the crowds showed up, we all took a “walk lap” inside the arena, so Sue could see how muddy it was, and the rest of us to do our “pre event track check” also known as enjoying walking around the field of a major league stadium just because we can!
Paul’s Friend Miss Parkenson, had no idea, she would be DRIVING Brandy’s car that night in front of the huge sell out crowd! You never know what will happen to you when you show up to an SCA event!
Here are the Track-walkers in the outfield…
then we set up some barricades, and went to lunch back at Hooters. NOTE: they have a much better “happy birthday song” than most restaurants…
When we got back, the crowds arrived…
The crowd was pretty well behaved compared to last year, and many people got to see their favorite star car, which ever one that was! Luis had a great time scaring kids by honking KITT’s horn, starting the car by remote, and making KITT talk, and requests for the Dukes of Hazzard Horn were constant. Shawn’s wife was in charge of setting kids straight that honked it themselves, by reaching into the General Lee!
Check back soon, for video of the drive around the arena, flames out the batmobile, rocket fire, and General Lee and Bandit Doughnuts in the dirt!
WE WILL BE AT ANAHEIM AGAIN ON THE 24TH, AND IN SAN DIEGO THE 17TH MONSTER JAM EVENTS, STOP BY AND SAY “HI”!!!
