Well, one last post for 2008, as a few of the Star Car Association got together in Laguna for a fun christmas parade. Danny in a BTTF Delorian with Christmas lights all around,
Brian’s Herbie the love bug with remote control tree leading the way, and our own R2D2 adorned “H-Wing” starwars car with “Obi shawn” and Yoda riding along were all there.
Spotted in some of the photos there was a “Mystery van” from scooby doo made out of cardboard, and a Weinermobile!
“My star car has a first name, it’s O_S_C_A_R….” ok it’s not ever been in a movie, but it has been on TV and it’s pretty famous…. The guys who get to drive that “Recreational Weiner” around must really “relish” their job!
See you at monster jam in Anaheim for the biggest star car group ever at that event! Jan 10th!

Danny ready to pull Santa's sleigh

How is that tree moving? Herbie Power!

Jingle Bells, R2 Smells, Yoda layed an egg...

Joe and his big Scooby van didn't make it, but this one did!

Look who has to "catchup"!
Well after a few years of trying to get a group of star cars in the Hollywood parade, it finally happened last Sunday, Nov. 30th, 2009. Thanks to our own Gary Goltz and his city hall connections, he found a sponsor in need of a float! Well, none of our cars actually float, but they will go down the street just as well as a float!
click on the “view in High Def” to see all of the police star cars that were in a second group!
We all arrived early, and met up without incident, found our place around 3pm. That’s when I saw the Highway patrol Buick come around the corner and had a brief panic! I could tell it was Gary, but he had told me his car was not going to make it to the parade, and should be replaced! Then I found out that he was driving one of Barry’s (robocop) many police cars!
Then came the standing around, and checking out each other’s cars! The sponsors showed up just in time, and we packed kids into all the seats we had in every car, and got in line. Eventually we all got around the corner to a really great reception to all the cars!
Heading up the front was Alex in KITT, and was supposed to take the sponsor, as KITT is actually one of the roomiest cars in the group, but when they arrived with their little baby, the mom wisely opted out. The poor kid would have been stuck in the car for almost 2 hours!
The parade DID start at 5pm. but we didn’t get into the parade until about 6! Once around the first corner, Hollywood gave each car a big cheer, and just past the wax museum we went past the stands and listened to the crowd scream their approval, Tom shooting off the bat-flame, and all the cars were lit up!
The parade continued down Hollywood blvd. then south on Vine, then west on Sunset. Several stations were set up to tell the crowd who was who as we drove by, even one in Japaneese, I think! By the time we got to the end of the parade, the bat battery was wearing down, and KITT needed to see “Bonnie” the mechanic, and we all had to scramble in different directions! Tom had lost his keys earlier in the day to his daily driver, but was rescued by his faithful sidekick and wife. Now that we are in their “rolodex” plan to see some star cars every year in the new Hollywood Santa Parade! Thanks to Miliinium Partners/Argent Ventures for letting us represent them in the parade, and give some kids a big treat for the holidays! Thanks also to Gary, Debbie, Laurie and Elizabeth who did all the behind the scenes work to make it all happen! Merry Christmas!
