Time to polish the chrome rocket launchers using Meguiar’s Chrome Polish, this stuff works amazingly well to clean chrome without scratching while restoring brilliance and clarity to the chrome finish…
The pad on top is a brand new clean pad, the pad below is after cleaning and polishing the chrome on the rocket launchers.

Before starting the paint polishing process we tackled some of the other areas that needed attention like the interior… Ryan and Nick roll up their sleeves and dive right…
The Roll-down Dash was all hand fabricated and very very cool! (New Car Manufacture take note).
We’ll see if a little polishing work with brighten it up little to showcase the craftsmanship that was required to recreate the original dash…

We didn’t get to the wheels during the day so after Jason re-parked the Batmobile, Ryan, Chris, Maria and GTObsessor got busy removing oxidation and restoring a shine with Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish to the Bat Wheels while Rand applies some more NXT Tech Wax 2.0 using our new G110
After the wheels were polished out Ryan applies Gold Class Endurance High Gloss to complete the look…
While there’s a number of tools on the market to make polishing aluminum easy we wanted to show that with Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum Polish you can still get great results the old fashioned way using what you already own… your hands!

Holy Swirl marks, batman!
As you might remember, I drove this car cross country with the Fireball Run inagural transcontinental rally, then took it to Monster Jam where the monster truck Grave Digger spewed rocks all over my baby!!! These guys did an amazing job of bringing the bat back to it’s former glory!! Thanks guys! Keep checking for comments and updates, he has a lot of photos!

The Batmobile sees a lot of wear and tear as it’s a daily driver and the SoCal environment is a relatively harsh environment as it relates to finish care.
First we’re going to do a couple of test spots, for perspective, here’s a shot of the rear of the car and we’ll be doing at least two test spots to dial in a process for the single stage paint on this car.
This is the kind of swirling that is throughout the finish of the Batmobile
Here’s Nick wrapping some tape around the rubber grommet of the radio antenna to make clean up easier and to prevent getting any product on the rubber gasket or in the cracks and grooves in this area.
After claying these areas we did two test spots, one on each side of the Turbine. On one side we did,

M80/G110/W-8006
On the other side Nick did,

M82/G110/W9207

Two days of pro-polishing
A snug fit in the Meguiar’s Batcave!
Anytime you can remove any trim or other components before machine cleaning and polishing it’s a good idea to do so. Here Nick removes the Bat Antenna.

After seeing the new Dark Knight movie in IMAX (yes, I reccomend it but not for little kids…) I had to get some of that darkness off of me. Lucky for me my bat-pal over at Meguiars Mike put together a super League of Detailers to get some grime off of the Gotham Cruiser.

Star cars we need to find….
Well here you go, the last of my star car posts for a while, so after this, back to batmobiles. KITT 2000, the original concept car is seriously cool inside! below, a montage of the shots that got me interested in getting the group together. Batmobiles, Movie Cars, and George Barris oh my! Batgirl’s cycle I think it’s pretty cool, she can park with us! the bat tank is always welcome Judge Dredd? really cool, it’s welcome as long as it doesn’t run over my car. streethawk. it’s in Australia, but any repros out there? Well, we can park this on the end….. Hey hey there’s a mold out there….. Expensive, way too expensive….. anyone want to screw up their Cord? Doc Savage fans out there? Wants 75 grand for it, any buyers? any batmobile is welcome…. My brother’s black beauty at a car show a while ago, he has two donor cars…. this is welcome too….. If I could find this (barris said it was crushed) that would be SWEET!!! Super Pursuit mode….. we saw this all ready, but it looks so great! This is out of Los Angeles, now in San Fran…. Oh yeah, this was CRAZY cool! Nemomobile!! |
